Ministry Of Education Looking At Changes

The Ministry of Education is once again asking local school boards to find cost savings.
A letter has been sent out to school boards in the region advising of a new consultation process to find efficiencies and save money.
About a year and a half ago, the Ministry of Education indicated it was going to look at possible school board amalgamations in the region in a cost-savings measure.
That initiative was eventually scrapped after the Liberals began looking for a new leader for their party.
This time around the Ministry has not indicated its looking at board amalgamations.
Instead technology has been listed as one of the ways of trying to save money, using things such as e-books instead of textbooks.
The Ministry began holding meetings on November 18th, but so far local trustees have not been asked to attend any of the sessions.
