Minnesota Man Fined For Fishing During Closed Season

A Minnesota man has netted a hefty fine for fishing violations on Rainy Lake.

Shane Thompson has been ordered to pay $2,500 for fishing in a provincial sanctuary during the closed season.

Back in April, conservation officers found the Warroad man ice fishing within a well-marked fish sanctuary in the Porter Inlet of Redgut Bay.

Thompson was also in possession of several black crappie, which were caught in the area.

His fishing rods were forfeited to the Crown.
