Mixed Reviews On Energy Plan

Northwestern Ontario will see some benefits from the Province’s new long-term energy plan.
The Northwest Energy Task Force says the government has indicated that Hydro One is expected to begin planning for the new northwest bulk transmission line.
Co-Chair Iain Angus says the line will run between Thunder Bay and Dryden.
Angus also points to the creation of an aboriginal transmission fund starting next year.
He feels the plan will go a long way in allowing remote First Nations communities to receive new, clean energy.
Angus is less keen on some of the energy conservation ideas contained in the plan and says they are targeted more at southern Ontario rather than the north.
Angus says once the mines are up and running they will be responsible for roughly 80% of our output.
He says the average homeowner can conserve all they want, but in the grand scheme of things it won’t make much of a difference.
