The PC government is celebrating 100 days on the job and Finance Minister Vic Fedeli believes it has been a resounding success so far.
Fedeli says all of their decisions have been made with Ontarians in mind.
He also feels they’re making strides towards his goal of balancing the budget.
Fedeli addressed some of the controversial decisions.
He says scrapping energy contracts, the 2015 sex-ed curriculum and the Basic Income Pilot were what’s best for Ontario.
Fedeli notes the income program would have cost an additional $17-billion, resulting in a 7% increase to the Harmonized Sales Tax.
He adds they are looking at a replacement to help low income families.
In terms of education, he stresses the government is now involved in one of the largest consultation processes that includes sex-ed, financial literacy and math.
Meanwhile, Thunder Bay-Atikokan NDP MPP Judith Monteith-Farrell says her party is disappointed with the actions from the PC government, alleging they aren’t keeping their election promises.
She says if she had a dollar for every time she heard “a promise made, a promise kept” in the House, she would be a millionaire.
Monteith-Farrell adds there have been a lack of specifics on key issues and a lot sound bites and slogans, stressing she wants to see more action on issues like Basic Income and the Environment.
Monteith-Farrell says she would grade the Conservatives’ performance as a “D”.
