The Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls has received more time to complete its work. Minister of Crown-Indigenous
Relations and Northern Affairs Carolyn Bennett announced today a six month extension.
A final report will now have to be submitted on June 30th, 2019, instead of the original deadline of November 1st.
Bennett says they will work with the inquiry to determine a new budget.
The Liberal government had initially earmarked $53.8-million and two years for the inquiry to complete its work.
