The Provincial Government plans to hold negotations with the Metis Nation of Ontario.
Ontario has stated it will not appeal a recent court decision on Metis Food Harvesting rights, but will hold renewed discussions.
MNO Chair Gary Lapinski says all card holding Metis Harvesters are now free to exercise their rights.

A judge stayed charges against 3 Metis men from French River who were charged by the MNR despite having valid harvesting cards.
Lapinski adds they’re pleased with the Government setting up an independent Aboriginal Affairs Ministry, but are concerned David Ramsay may be in conflict, since he’s also responsible for Natural Resources.
