The Canadian Military is teaming up with the Ministry of Natural Resources in a large-scale forest fire training exercise.
About 100-military personnel and helicopters will be participating with MNR waterbombers, helicopters and firefighters.
Lieutenant-Colonel Steve Hill says the Military needs to fine-tune their policies and skills in the event of an emergency.
Hill says ‘Trillium Response’ is a simulated forest fire fighting exercise and it will take place in Bon Echo Park near Trenton the first week of May.
Hill notes the Military is always on call to fight forest fires, like they did a few years ago in B.C.
He stresses they learned a lot from that experience.
The Military will be working with MNR officials from Northwestern Ontario.
Hill was one of the keynote speakers at the Northwest Response Forum in Dryden this week.
