MNR faces eviction from Sachigo

The Ministry of Natural Resources has been given 48 hours to tear down a building set up on the Sachigo River in northwesern Ontario to test water.

Alvin Beardy is the chief of the Sachigo Lake First Nation and says they are unhappy the M.N.R. decided to erect the building without consulting them first.

N009 Q: …our territory. (16 secs.)

Beardy says MNR officials are either ignoring their own government’s policies on aboriginal rights, or is simply incompetant.
