The Ministry of Natural Resources says its still going to take a few more weeks before they are able to gain the upper hand on forest fires burning out of control in northwestern Ontario.
Currently, there are over 70 wild fires that are considered active.
Fire Information Officer Debbie MacLean says they have been able to release some of the out-of-province fire crews from active duty.
Maclean says this has been the most destructive fire season in 50 years, with more than 622 thousand hectares of forest land burned.
