MNR Launches Lake Study

The Ministry of Natural Resources is taking a close look at 61 lakes in northwestern Ontario.
Fog Lake is the only Dryden area lake being monitored this summer.
Spokesperson Kim Armstrong says lake surveys are underway that look at water quality analysis, fish status such as flesh samples and invasive species.
The intensive part of the program is the netting surveys, and officials will take anywhere from 3 to 5 days, which started in late June and will go until early September.
Samples are sent off to the Ministry of Environment and Queen’s University.
As part of the fish surveys, officials take samples so the fish can be aged, and they are sent off to their office in Dryden.
Armstrong says it could take over a year to know the final results.
