The Ministry of Natural Resources will be conducting a study in Northwestern Ontario Wildlife Management Units this Fall to see if there is any sign of Chronic Wasting Disease among the deer population.
Spokesperson Tore Buchanan says they are asking hunters in the Region to bring deer heads into select locations for testing.
Depot locations have been set up in Dryden, Kenora, Nestor Falls, Emo and Fort Frances.
Deer heads will be accepted until mid-December.
The MNR is hoping to collect over 400 deer heads for the study.
Buchanan says so far there has been no evidence of the disease in our area but notes it has been confirmed in other areas of Canada and the United States.
