Changes to the Ontario Park Ranger program have actually created more opportunities for area youth.
Natural Resources Minister David Orazietti is making that claim in the Legislature following NDP demands to bring back the summer long program.
Orazietti says the province has gone from 13 locations to 30 locations since they made changes to the program last year.
He adds they continue to be the top employer of young people in the government; 1,974 jobs through the Ministry of Natural Resources.
Orazietti says that remains the same despite the fiscal challenges facing the province.
