The provincial government is being urged to consult local residents before it decides to close any Ministry of Natural Resources office in the region.
Kenora-Rainy River MPP Sarah Campbell says proposed closures could have devastating impacts on northwestern Ontario communities.
Campbell is pointing to the possible closure of the MNR office in Ignace.
She says the closure will have a negative impact on the reopening of the sawmill and Bending Lake iron ore mine.
Campbell adds the Premier has already gutted the MNR.
Minister of Northern Development and Mines Rick Bartolucci confirmed the government is planning to consult with local communities that will be affected by any change in service.
