The Ministry of Natural Resources has sent 86-firefighters and support staff from bases across Northwestern Ontario to British Columbia.
The crews were dispatched Sunday.
Information Officer Travis Moffatt says they can afford to free up the extra resources.
There were no new fires in Northwestern Ontario over the weekend and the hazard is currently low.
Moffatt notes rough and steep terrain and limited access to water have been challenging local firefighters who are currently in B.C.
