The Ministry of Natural Resources has sent an 8 member team to the Northwest Territories to help fight several wildfires there.
They will join two other fire fighters in Hay River as the fire situation is getting worse in that area.
Information Officer Debbie MacLean says a quiet season here at home allows them to free up troops.
They are expected to be in the area for two weeks.
MacLean notes they are able to supply additional crews and equipment if asked.
In northwestern Ontario, the MNR is dealing with a handful of fires in the north, Quetico Park and a small fire in Webequie First Nation.
All of the fires are small and under control.
MacLean says the fire hazard is expected to jump to moderate to high in this area, but could be high to extreme in the northeast corner of the region.
