The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is making progress in its efforts to cut back on the number of forest fires in the northwest.
As of Tuesday night, there were no new blazes to report, with the total count now down to 143.
One of the more stubborn fires of late has been Nipigon District Fire #99, but crews have been diligent and successful in getting the fire under control, with about 20 hotspots being monitored and attacked.
