The Province will spend $3 million on remote roads this year.
The new money will be used to upgrade or create winter networks in the far Northwest.
3,000km of winter roads are being built to provide access for communities such as Sandy Lake, Big Trout Lake and Muskrat Dam.
In most cases, the communities share the cost of building and maintaining the network until late March.
