Bruce Montague is going to be spending some time behind bars.
The former Dryden gunsmith was taken into custody this afternoon immediately after his sentencing hearing at the Kenora Court House.
He was sentenced to a total of 18 months in prison after being found guilty on 26 of 53 firearms charges.
Justice John Wright handed down sentences ranging from six months, 12 months and 18 months, but because they are concurrent sentences, he won’t have to spend any more than a year and a half in jail.
Montague’s wife Donna was given six months probation for owning a firearm without a licence.
Montague’s lawyer, Doug Christie says he plans to appeal the decision in Ontario Court of Appeal tomorrow (Wednesday) and will also asking for bail for his client so he can be free while the appeals process in on-going.
