More Nuisance Bears

Black bears made a nuisance of themselves across the province this
summer as berries, their primary food source, literally dried up on the
vine.
That reason is being cited by the Ministry of Natural Resources for
pushing the number of nuisance bear complaints to its Bear Wise hot-line to
almost double the calls made last year.
Of the 16,162 calls to the hot-line as of November 30th, 12,645 required
a response by ministry or police services.
the number of occurrences in the northwest region was up 47 calls over
last year at 1,708.
