The Northwestern Health Unit has seen a significant jump in the number
of area residents getting their flu shots.
Last year at this time, only a thousand had ventured out to be
vaccinated, compared to the current number of 10,000.
The Health Unit has distributed a total of 30,000 doses of
influenza vaccine.
Spokesperson Cindy McKinnon believes the holiday season and colder
weather may have spurred residents into action to protect themselves.
McKinnon notes there has been some flu-like activity
in the region, but notes the worst is yet to come.
You can still get your free flu shot by calling area Health Unit
office’s.
