The Northwestern Health Unit has delayed its mosquito trapping program due to the recent cool, wet weather.
Spokesperson Al Mathers says the initiative to combat West Nile virus was supposed to begin in later June but it will now start on July 5th.
Mathers says the rain has actually helped reduce the mosquito population this year.
Trapping will take place in Dryden, Kenora and Fort Frances.
Mathers adds the region will not likely see its first case of West Nile in birds until August.
