MOU Signed Between Province and Grassy Narrows

After years of negotiations, it looks as if an end in the impasse between the Grassy Narrows First Nation and the Provincial Government over forest activity in their Traditional Land Use Area has come to an end.
The Memorandum of Understanding outlines a working relationship to address community concerns and the sustainable management of the Whiskey Jack Forest, about 80-kilometres northeast of Kenora.
A press conference was held today (Thursday) with Natural Resources Minister Linda Jeffrey and Grassy Narrows Chief Simon Fobister.
The deal follows a report from Frank Iacabucci.
The Former Supreme Court Justice was hired by the Province to find a resolution to the impasse.
