MVA on Highway 17

A 27 year old Clearwater Bay resident has been charged as a result of a collision on Highway 17 between Kenora and Vermillion Bay.

The accident took place Friday night just before 10:00 near
Bee Lake.

The O.P.P. say a pick-up truck was trying to pass a semi-tractor trailor unit, and met an on-coming transport
coming the other direction.

In order to avoid a head-on collision, the driver of the
on-coming truck took evasive action.

The pick-up was unable to avoid the semi completely and
struck the trailor unit.

The driver of the half-ton lost control of the vehicle and
entered the ditch and struck a rock cut.

The female driver of the pick-up truck had to be extricated from her vehicle by emergency personnel.

She was taken to Lake of the Woods District Hospital with
non-life Threatening injuries.

She has also been charged with careless driving.
