The Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service and OPP have reached a service protocol agreement.
It covers such areas as geographical boundaries, jurisdiction and investigations.
Nishawbe Chief Wes Luloff says the two sides have had a long standing relationship and the deal replaces a 6 year old agreement.
Luloff says it’s a flexible, non-contractual understanding that clearly defines who responds to what and it also improves safety in all communities.
The protocol will be made official next Thursday.
