NAN Chief Upset with Mining Regulations

The Grand Chief of the Nishnawbe-Aski Nation says aboriginals don’t have
enough say in mining development in Northwestern Ontario.
Stan Beardy says Northern aboriginal communities are being stripped of
their resources by mining companies and have no power to stop the
development or share in the profits.
The province is drawing up guidelines on how to consult aboriginals on
mining exploration.
But the government says aboriginals aren’t entitled to veto any
development up north.
