NAN Says Rail Spill Direct Assault

Nishnawbe Aski Nation’s Grand Chief is calling a recent derailment in Gogama “a direct assault” on land treaties.

The train carrying crude oil came off its tracks near a northeastern Ontario First Nation, and spilt into a local river system.

Harvey Yesno says CN is downplaying environmental concerns, and that’s just adding fuel to the fire.

Yesno adds they continue to closely monitor the situation.
