National Campaign To End Poverty

Poverty is a missing part of the conversation during the federal election campaign.

That’s according to Michele Biss of Canada Without Poverty.

Biss admits she’s surprised to see such a focus on the middle class in the campaign.

She says nothing is being done despite calls from the United Nations as well as Senate and House of Commons committees.

Biss points out 4.8-million Canadians are struggling to make ends meet and won’t be able to reach middle class status.

She adds roughly 900,000 people in Canada visit a Food Bank on a monthly basis.

Biss is calling for a national strategy to combat poverty.

40-cities across the country will take part in the national #ChewOnThis campaign Tuesday engaging people on the subject of poverty.
