The Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls has a long list of recommendations in its interim report.
The report was released on Wednesday and requests have been made for more time and money to properly carry out their work.
Qajaq Robinson is one of the Commissioners and says they are asking that a national Task Force be set up to help investigate cold cases as new information is brought to light during the hearings.
The Inquiry also wants more funding set aside for counselling and support services for family members and survivors who are involved in the hearings.
Meantime, the Chief Commissioner of the Inquiry admits their work has been bogged down by government red tape.
Marion Buller says they have faced several obstacles surrounding bureaucracy, procedures and policy to get their Inquiry up-and-running and mobilized across Canada.
Buller says they speak with the government on a daily basis about potential new options.
