Native Language Program a Success

The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board is being praised for its native second language initiatives.
Larry Beardy is an Aboriginal Special Assignment Teacher in Sioux Lookout and notes a few years ago the language and history of the Anishinaabe people wasn’t even recognized.
Beardy says students and teachers are now able to promote native language programming thanks to new technology, resource materials and visual aides.
Beardy says kids are learning the Ojibwe and
Oji-Cree language in a friendly and fun environment.
