Natural Resources Canada Looking For Budworm Trackers

A Natural Resources Canada program used to determine the spread of the spruce budworm is looking for more volunteer help.

So-called budworm trackers are given traps to collect and count moths collected.

Canadian Forest Service Researcher Chris McQuarrie says the data helps them determine where the budworm is going to pop up in subsequent years.

McQuarrie says having trackers in place allows them to obtain more samples and information as well as give them a better idea on when moths fly.

He adds the data can help them determine the spread of the insects and how large the infestation may be in subsequent years.
