Greg Rickford admits he will likely be playing a more prominent role in the energy sector as Natural Resources Minister.
Rickford is reacting to the change in leadership in Alberta and the ice cold reaction from investors in oil and gas.
The Kenora MP says he will use his relationship with the Secretary of Energy of the United States to help advance Alberta and industry interests.
Rickford says he’s committed to meeting with Premier Rachel Notley to ensure both sides are focused on responsible resource development, jobs, growth and long term economic prosperity.
Rickford notes the new government will have to proceed cautiously and contrary to what Federal positions are as the industry is so vital to the provincial economy.
