NDP Call For Better Mining Safety Standards

The NDP are asking the provincial government to hire a special prosecutor to ensure safety standards are being met at mines across the province.
This after a Thunder Bay man was killed last week at the North America Palladium mine at Lac Des Iles.
NDP critic Mike Mantha says there have already been seven deaths in Ontario mines this year.
Mantha says miners and their families have a right to expect that they will come home safe at the end of their shift.
He goes on to question what will the minister do to ensure there are no more mining deaths in the province.
Labour Minister Steve Peters says a Mining Safety Review is currently being carried out and he plans to
act on any recommendations that come out of that document.
