The New Democrats in Thunder Bay-Rainy River are the first major party in the riding to start up the election machine.
NDP candidate nomination meetings are set for Fort Frances on May 31st, Atikokan on June 1st and Thunder Bay on June 2nd.
If an election is called shortly, party officials say those dates will be moved up.
John Rafferty has announced he is seeking the nomination once again and is so far the only candidate to do so.
