The NDP is accusing the Harper Conservatives of playing hardball with Canada’s first nations.
Kenora candidate Howard Hampton says the Tories seem to be flip-flopping on the Freedom Road to Shoal Lake #40.
Hampton says earlier this week, the Conservatives seemed to indicate they would help fund the all-weather road, only to back track a day later.
He adds the government has been ignoring several key aboriginal issues, and that’s one reason why there’s a holdup with the twinning of Highway 17 between Kenora and the Manitoba boundary.
