The federal NDP are trying to keep the support going.
The latest polls have them leading and leader Tom Mulcair is rallying party supporters in Ontario, which includes a weekend stop in Thunder Bay.
Thunder Bay-Rainy River MP John Rafferty believes Mulcair is also gaining momentum in this region.
Rafferty says the leader has always put up a fight for northern Ontario in the House of Commons.
Mulcair is targeting Ontario ridings he believes his party can win and the Thunder Bay-Superior North Riding is one the NDP would like back after Bruce Hyer defected to the Green Party.
