The Federal Government is being urged to restore funding for the Aboriginal Healing Foundation.
The Kenora Riding has received about $3-million a year over the past 10 years from the Foundation to operate a number of programs.
Nicki Ashton is the Member of Parliament for Churchill, Manitoba and says they called for an emergency debate in the House of Commons to try and get the Harper government to restore the money.
Ashton says with the Healing and Reconciliation Commission set to hold its first hearings in Northwestern Ontario this week, its important for the Government to support programs that help out victims of the residential school system.
