NDP MP Introduces Private Members Bill

Thunder Bay-Rainy River MP John Rafferty has brought back a private members bill aimed at protecting workers severance when companies enter bankruptcy protection.
It’s a similar bill that died on the order table in the last Parliament.
Rafferty says his bill acts on a promise made to forestry workers in Northwestern Ontario who lost their jobs with the closing of their mills in recent years.
First reading took place in the House of Commons Thursday.
