NDP Want Conservatives to Address Policing Crisis

The Federal NDP is calling on Public Safety Minister Stockwell Day to
address the dangerous conditions facing police officers in Northern Ontario.
The call comes after Kasobinka Lake First Nation was forced to close
its police station resulting in the transfer of prisoners to Sioux Lookout.
Timmins-James Bay MP Charlie Angus says most fly-in communities in the
North have police detachments that look like shanty shacks and officers
who have no back up.
Angus says no non-native police officer or community would ever put up
with such conditions.
He notes Government under-funding puts Northern First Nations and
police officers at risk.
