The National Energy Board is now accepting applications for those wanting to participate in an upcoming hearing into the Canadian portion of the Manitoba-Minnesota transmission line.
Manitoba Hydro wants to construct a 500 kilovolt line from the Winnipeg area to the Minnesota border where it will connect to a similar line that will draw power to the Iron Range area.
The Minnesota line has most of its permitting in place, but the Canadian government agreed in late December with the N-E-B that more hearings on the Manitoba project are needed.
No dates have been set.
Both Manitoba and Minnesota authorities hope to have the line in place by 2020.
