It came down to the 11th hour, but the City of Dryden has completed the final step in its requirements for the water metering project.
The City had until the end of the day (Monday) to meet the deadline, or risk losing the Federal-Provincial funding it received.
Treasurer Linda McNaughton says Council today approved a staff request to finalize a Utility Billing deal with Vadim Software.
McNaughton says the last-minute resolution is due to the scope of the project and a taxing schedule for staff.
McNaughton says residents will soon see separate water and sewer bills.
It can’t be combined in the telephone bill due to Government regulations.
She says residents will start seeing “ghost billing” in January or February.
People will see two invoices, one with the water meter rate which won’t be paid and another with the flat rate.
McNaughton says the entire water meter billing system should be ready for operation in June.
Needed Resolution Passed at Last Minute
