New Chief in Whitefish Bay

Whitefish Bay Chief Clarence White has conceded defeat in an election
on the Kenora area reserve.
Unofficial results indicate former band Councilor Warren White
is the new Chief for the community of about 1,000 people.
White is best known for declaring a state of emergency in Whitefish Bay
last year.
It was an attempt to resolve an ongoing crisis in the community,
where there were 7 suicides and 26 suicide attempts within 2 years.
