New Contract For Child Welfare Agency Workers

A new contract has been secured for some 30 unionized workers at Weechi-it-te-win Family Services.

The Indigenous based child welfare agency serves Anishinaabe residents from ten First Nations across the Kenora and Rainy River districts.

Members of Unifor Local 324 have voted 88% in favour of the four year deal.

The contract includes a 7.25% increase in wages, increased employer pension contributions, 14 annual statutory holidays, 15 annual sick days, expanded paid leave, a generous retirement allowance and improved benefit coverage.

Local National Representative Stephen Boon says the deal will provide long-term stability and allow their members to focus on providing critical services.
