New Contract for Nurses

Ontario nurses have reached a tentative three-year contract which would make them the highest paid in the country.
About 40-thousand members of the Ontario Nurses Association will receive wage increases of up to 11 per cent.
Retroactive to April 2001, the deal covering nurses at 136 hospitals, puts the maximum salary at $33.75 an hour.
Other improvements to the contract include higher rates for night and weekend shifts and improved benefits.
