Crushing operations are expected to begin at New Gold’s mine site near Fort Frances this month.
The company says all of the structural components of its processing facilities are complete while the primary crusher and conveyor system are close to being finished.
Chief Executive Officer Hannes Portmann says mining activity is also progressing.
The company’s also started work on a smaller tailing site capable of holding six months worth of material as it seeks approval on a large site.
Portmann says they’ll be speaking to provincial officials about those approvals this week.
Full operation of the mine is still expected this September.
