Joanne Jacyk has been named the new Director of Site Selection for Ignace/Northwest.
She was formerly Manager of the NWMO’s Environment program.
Jacyk says her main priority role is ensuring the agency continues to develop lasting relationships with the communities of Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation, Ignace and surrounding communities.
She will also be tasked with ensuring the host communities have all the information they need to decide if they are willing to have a deep geological repository in the area.
The agency still hopes to select a host site in 2024.
