New Osnaburgh Man Dies After Ingesting Pills

A New Osnaburgh First Nation man is dead after he ingested what police believe to be illicit opioids made to look like pharmaceutically produced medication.

Police were contacted Sunday after two people in Pickle Lake ingested medication that they believed to be pharmaceutical produced Percocet.

Both individuals became unconscious and one man didn’t recover.

The name of the deceased is being withheld at this time.

Provincial Police are investigating in cooperation with the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service.

As a result of the probe, OPP say 59-year-old Jack Moore of Pickle Lake has been charged with two counts of trafficking.

He remains in custody.
