New Prospect School Leading The Way

The Fraser Institute is giving credit to Dryden elementary schools for improving their ratings in its yearly look at student success and well-being.

The Right-Wing Think Tank says all three schools finished above the provincial average of 6.0 out of 10.

Report Author Peter Cowley says New Prospect led all regional schools with a 7.6.

That’s up from 7.2 in 2015-2016.

Cowley says over the last two years, New Prospect has done as well as many of the schools in what he calls the more advantaged areas of the province.

St. Joseph’s scored a 6.5, while Open Roads was right behind at 6.4.

Cowley says Dryden schools were bucking the trend as the 24 reporting schools in northwestern Ontario had an average score of 4.0 out of 10.

Cowley says parents use the report card to help make a decision on where to send their child.
