New Tax Credit for Seniors

A local MPP is finding a flaw with a new tax credit for seniors.
The $1500 Health Homes Renovation Tax Credit was introduced today, which will cover home renovations such as ramps and lifts.
Sarah Campbell of the Kenora-Rainy River riding says it could end up costing some people.
She adds that some people could spend 10 thousand dollars a year, and only get 1500 back. They would also have to pay the reno cost up front, and then submit the cost on their yearly taxes.
Campbell would have liked to see the program could be automatic, and seniors wouldn’t have to put out the money and then apply for it on their taxes.
