In a rare move, Dryden Council has allowed for single-sourcing, pre-budget approval of the purchase of a new Zamboni.
The price tag for the ice resurfacer is over $94,000.
The City says the current machine has reached its limit.
Councilor Brian Collins says they gave approval because the manufacturer requires a lead time of 1-year for purchase.
There are only 2-manufacturers of Zambonies in North America and staff say an electric machine from the other company would be $162,000.
Council has opted for another gas powered machine.
