Nipigon wildfire under control

The Ministry of Natural Resources says Nipigon fire #20 has finally been brought under control, after burning over 14 thousand hectares of forest land over the past two weeks.

The M.N.R. says the fire is no longer growing, and fire crews are currently trying to mop up any hot spots.

Almost 380 fire crews remain in the Nipigon District working on the blaze, but 13 fire ranger crews from northeastern Ontario have been sent back home.

Meanwhile, the fire hazard in the northwest is low across the region today due to all the rain over the past week.
